C + P steel for new Haffkrug pier
CHRISTMANN + PFEIFER's bridge construction expertise was required for a tourist flagship: as part of a joint working group, we realized the new 230-metre-long pier in the Baltic seaside resort of Haffkrug.
We manufactured 420 tons of steel for this project in our in-house production facility. Those were then assembled on site to serve as the substructure of the wooden walkway. The pier includes a DLRG building (German lifesaving association) on the beach, a weather protection shelter on the bridge, two meeting platforms, a jetty for passenger ships below the tip of the pier and a sports boat jetty.
The pier is an example of exciting engineering: prefabricated concrete elements rest on pile-driven pipes, and our main steel supporting structure is located between the concrete trusses. A tour is of course possible at any time!
